A new restaurant has opened in the Harbor Bay Landing Shopping Center. China Villa began serving customers about two weeks ago in the facility once occupied by Harbor View restaurant. The owners, Grace and Steven Wu, own the China Villa in San Anselmo, but they plan to only operate the Alameda restaurant now that it's opened.
A gift boutique in the South Shore Center is moving to a new location. The Modern Mouse is closing its current location and moving into a new storefront in the same shopping center on Feb. 1. Owner Eleen Hsu says her store is having a sale the rest of this week as it prepares to make the switch.

A Patch reader has reported the Chestnut Encinal Market has closed. The reader said the store at 1202 Chestnut St. had put up discount signs last week with a note saying they were closing soon. The reader said the store was shut on Wednesday afternoon with a sign that said "Closed until furthur notice." If you know what has happened, let us know.
