“These screenings are vital to the community. They provide important education about strokes and how to reduce your risk,” said Mary Bond, RN, executive director of Nursing at Alameda Hospital. “Many people do not realize that they are at risk for a stroke or the importance of identifying the signs and symptoms. We will provide an assessment as well as education.”
The screenings will include blood pressure, body mass index, finger stick blood test for total cholesterol, and blood glucose in addition to a quick look EKG for heart rhythm. Educational resources on healthy eating, decreasing risk and identifying stroke symptoms will also be available.
