Suspect Arrested Following Saturday Morning Altercation in Berkeley
As the victims were walking away, the suspect fired one round into the air.
BERKELEY, CA — Police in Berkeley responded to a physical altercation early Saturday morning and took a suspect into custody.
Officers received a call at 2:06 a.m. Dec. 17, about a fight in the 2400 block of Telegraph Avenue where a gun was fired.
According to police, a group got into a verbal argument with the suspect, which resulted with the suspect punching a woman in the throat. As the victims were walking away, the suspect fired one round into the air.

While officers were interviewing the victims, an officer spotted the suspect trying to blend in with a crowd of people on Durant Avenue. When the officer went to detain the suspect, the individual fled from officers on foot. After a chase, the suspect was captured in the area of Channing Way and Bowditch Street.
The suspect was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a loaded pistol and narcotics packaged for sales, police said.
