Teen Arrested for Sexual Assault, Burglaries: Police
Police say they've connected the 17-year-old to 5 burglaries.

A teen suspect was arrested in connection with several Alameda burglaries and the sexual assault of a juvenile girl in her bedroom earlier this month, police said.
The 17-year-old Alameda resident was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of two counts of burglary and the sexual assault, according to Alameda police. Since his arrest, investigators have connected him with as many as five recent burglaries and suspect he might have been involved in more.
Police had been searching for a suspect in the series of burglaries on Alameda’s west end for weeks, releasing surveillance photos of him in mid-July and warning residents to lock their doors and windows.

The hunt escalated this week when a parent reported Saturday that the suspect had cut the screen of their daughter’s open bedroom window and sexually assaulted her.
Police increased patrols during the time of the burglaries -- believed to have been in the late night and early morning hours while residents were home -- and reviewed surveillance video and evidence from the crime scenes.
