The best of Alameda!

While I voted for many of the winners there are some surprises and some that I believe deserve and honorable mention. But first, let me just say that I totally agree with the Best Real Estate Agent winner, totally love that guy ;)

Burger - I would have to say that American Oak has the best burger. Red Onion also has a solid burger but the service is so sketchy that I think that takes away from people returning based on a bad experience.

Best Mexican - that's tough because growing up in San Francisco I have found the Mexican food on the island to be a disappointment. And Acapulco in closed. That said, I would go with El Caballo on Lincoln and Calafia on Webster.

Best Pizza - East End is well deserving but for thick crust pizza I would have gone with Crolls and Tomatina's. They are completely different so it really depends on the weather/mood and whether I want to eat at home.

Breakfast - I like Jim's as a diner but I would go with Jolie's at the corner of Webster and Santa Clara as a first choice. That said, I believe Alameda needs more breakfast spots.

Peet's does have the best coffee on the island but it would be great if we could get a Blue Bottle cafe here. If they can succeed on a desolate corner in Jack London, they can certainly survive here.

Vet - My dog and cat go to Park Center but looks like I may to give Providence a try. I always feel like I just left a car dealership at Park Center. It doesn't help when you read the article on the wall that states "they had to come up with new ways to create revenue to pay for the building".

Not on the list.. best cheesesteak and of course it's the cheese steak factory.

Restaurants I will try this year. Kamakura's and C'era Una Volta.

Now that we've established the best any considerations on the worst?
