Tracy Blackman & Friends

"…her expertise is worthy of your sharpest ear." –SF Weekly

Bay Area powerhouse Tracy Blackman is soulful, stirring and full of a dynamic power that transports listeners to sonic bliss. As a songwriter, she pens intricate tracks that mesh aspects of blues, pop, jazz and rock. An enthralling chanteuse, she can deliver a soft, delicate croon in one moment and then shake the rafters with a plaintive wail or a bluesy growl in the next. Her voice is “that perfect combination of sweet and sad” says producer/songwriter Bonnie Hayes. Her fans have called her performances “their church” and have said that her songs are “hymns sung with the voice of an angel.”

Called the “Queen of the Cognoscenti” by SFSonic, Blackman has performed and/or recorded with iconic artists such as Carlos Santana, Bonnie Hayes, Jimmy Dillon, Narada Michael Walden, Bob Weir, Jerry Harrison, the late Clarence Clemmons, Kudisan Kai, Dirty Cello, D’CuCKoo, and many, many others. She toured parts of Europe with the late Merl Saunders and has shared the stage with JJ Cale, Tommy Castro, Roy Rogers, Paul Kantner and Jack Cassady of Jefferson Starship, Train, Maria Muldaur and Moonalice.

Her latest CD, Mercy, is an inspired collection that features appearances by her sister Cindy Blackman-Santana on drums and her brother-in-law Carlos Santana on guitar. Once considered one of the top 10 unsigned Bay Area artists by SF Weekly, Blackman is a true master of her craft and puts on a striking and skillful performance every single time.
