Vehicle Tracking System Leads Police to Stolen BMW

Two suspects were arrested and pilfered loot seized, according to police.

BERKELEY, CA — BMW's Stolen Vehicle Tracking System Dispatch Center contacted Berkeley Police Dispatchers about a stolen vehicle that was parked at the Berkeley Marina Monday night.

Two Officers responded and found the vehicle which was occupied by a man and a woman.

According to police, "The vehicle’s occupants were detained inside the vehicle. A computer check of the occupants showed them both to be on felony probation for identity theft with search clauses. During a search of the vehicle the officers recovered handguns, 1.25 grams of suspected methamphetamine, methamphetamine smoking paraphernalia, credit cards, checks, consumer profiles, and mail belonging to several victims."

The two suspects were arrested on charges of weapons, narcotics, identity theft, providing false identity to Police, and probation violations.

The suspects have been identified as Travis Penaluna, 25, of El Sobrante and Christina Taylor, 32, of Kensington.
