Hailed for their spirited performances of Latin fusion, folk and adventurous jazz, the VNote Ensemble comes to Rhythmix for a special CD release party and celebration of their latest recording project, “Urbano.” Giving voice to a treasure trove of Venezuelan music, the group explores highly original musical connections from North American jazz to traditional Venezuelan folk songs. The VNote Ensemble defiantly ignores musical boundaries to create new directions that combine the lively rhythms of joropo, swing, gaita, soul, be-bop, calypso and more. VNote’s new CD features a three movement suite called “Suite Jazznera” written by the ensemble with the generous support of a new works grant funded by SF Friends of Chamber Music.

VNote Ensemble:

Jackeline Rago, Venezuelan Cuatro, Bandola, Percussion

Donna Viscuso, Flute, Harmonica

Sam Bevan, Bass

Michaelle Goerlitz, Percussion
