Where is the Best Ice Cream in Alameda?

Patch readers told us on Facebook where to go and cool off with a cone of ice cream around Alameda.

ALAMEDA, ST - July temperatures have been brutal in many regions across the country, with heat indexes over 100 degrees and heat advisories issued in many states.

Forecasters are warning residents across the country to be vigilant and make sure not to spend too much time outdoors when temperatures are high.

"Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside," according to a weather service statement. "When possible, reschedule strenuous activities for early in the morning or in the evening."

Other recommendations from forecasters include wearing loose clothing and drinking plenty of water.

Energy companies are also offering their advice to residents who are plagued by the hot weather. To cut down on costs, it's best to run appliances in the morning and close the blinds to stop the sunlight from heating up a room. Keep the vents closed and doors shut in rooms that are not occupied.

  • Cookiebar Creamery, 1606 Webster St: Ice cream lovers can enjoy flavors like Vietnamese Coffee and Fruity Pebbles at this Alameda favorite. Hours vary, and the shop is open seven days a week.
  • Tucker's Super Creamed Ice Cream, 1349 Park St: Tucker's is a favorite amongst Alameda Patch Readers, and has been in the bay area since 1941. With dozens of flavors, there is something that will satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. Tucker's is open seven days a week and hours vary.
