Wilderness First Aid Course, 2-20-15 a one day hour class for medical emergencies camping, hiking, fishing, boating, at home or away!
Come join our class February 29th because every Wilderness First Aid class we teach our students receive the best training and information in the industry. We train for months every year to pass on current knowledge and the latest health and safety information to our students in all of our classes. In September the Search & Rescue team invited Cool Safety’s lead instructor to attend an advanced training program in the shadow of Mount Hood, this was not your average rescue team, the Mount Wave Search and Rescue had logged over 150 searches this year alone with all volunteers and no paid responders. The Mount Wave group had dozens of Canine search teams, horse mounted search groups, many ground borne searchers and several highly sophisticated communications vehicles.
I spent two weeks in Oregon, Washington and Northern California attending the Search and Rescue conference in Clackamas County Oregon, conducting a private tour of the SAM Medical Products company and attending advanced specialized training at Mount Hood. The SAM splint is one of the many products that Dr. Sam Scheinberg has designed to save lives over the years, as a trauma surgeon returning from Vietnam Sam saw a need to a portable, flexible splint that could be x-rayed, was inexpensive and could save life and limb. Toying with a stick of aluminum gum wrapper the design for the SAM Splint was born and today many life saving products are produced by the SAM Medical Products Company that save lives worldwide.
We learned about severe injuries, poisonous plants, snakes and medical information that the family going outdoors needs to know, even a brief hike in a local regional park can present some challenges with even minor injuries, come train with us and we will teach you how to avoid injuries and treat those that do happen and may be beyond our control due to natural disasters, the kind we read about every year in the news...

One recent student this year said, ”I had a family member that thought she was having a stroke and i was able to evaluate and treat her and eliminate stroke as the cause.” Another student last month was at a youth camp in Oregon and was recruited to help medically treat emergencies because of his level of knowledge gained in my course.
