3 Injured This Week in Berkeley Strong-Arm Robberies

The robberies happened on two different days this week.

BERKELEY, CA — Suspects in separate robbery incidents earlier this week near the University of California at Berkeley campus are still at large, university police said.

At 12:29 a.m. on Thursday, police received a call of a strong-arm robbery that occurred at Stadium Rim Way and Centennial Drive, adjacent to the university's Memorial Stadium.

A male victim and female victim were walking on Centennial Drive toward campus when two male suspects approached the victims from behind, police said.

The victims said a black male suspect, 5 feet 11 inches tall with light skin and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, approached the female victim and took her cellphone. A second suspect described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and wearing a black mask and white hooded sweatshirt, hit and kicked the male victim until he gave up his property, according to police. The suspects drove away on westbound Stadium Rim Way in a box-style SUV.

The male victim suffered injuries that did not require immediate medical treatment, police said.

At 7:57 p.m. on Tuesday an attempted robbery occurred on the east side of O'Brien Hall where two male suspects approached two male victims. The suspects told the victims to give them their property and starting hitting the victims when they refused, according to police.

The suspects left the area on foot without any of the victim's goods. One of the victims required treatment at a hospital, police said. Officers are describing one suspect as a white man in his 20s, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 190 pounds with short light brown hair and a short beard. He was wearing a red plaid sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to police.

The second suspect was described also as a white man in his 20s, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 200 pounds with short blonde hair and a full beard. He was wearing a blue plaid long sleeve shirt.
