510 Families Has Tons of Resources for Bay Area Parents, Kids

The website, run by two Berkeley moms, has a robust event calendar and lots of great ideas.

Just wanted to take a moment to point out a relatively recent website with a slew of information about fun activities for families in the Bay Area, including Albany

Launched by two local moms, 510Families is an interactive guide for parents who want to have fun with their kids in the East Bay. Packed with activities, outings, classes, and even date night suggestions, 510Families.com makes planning your weekend easier.

Founders Heather Gibbs Flett and Whitney Moss have been blogging as a duo since 2005 at RookieMoms.com. Their book, The Rookie Mom's Handbook, published in 2008, provides "250 activities to do with (and without!) your baby." Both have two young children and live in Berkeley, CA.

510Families has a searchable directory of kid-friendly activities and resources: an East Bay events calendar with drop-in classes, storytimes, family-friendly festivals, and farmers' markets; outings and activities categorized by age of kid, location (within the 510 area code, get it?), and type of activity; and daily blog posts to give East Bay parents the scoop.

510Families is also on Facebook and Twitter.
