Bomb Squad Called To Sutter Ave. Home After Explosive Found

The homeowner was cleaning out his garage when he made the device discovery.

RICHMOND, CA - A bomb squad was called to a Richmond home today when a resident discovered a device with explosive potential while cleaning out his garage, a police lieutenant said.

Lt. Andre Hill said Richmond police received a call at 11:35 a.m. from a man who believed he found a smoke bomb in the garage of his home in the 5800 block of Sutter Avenue.

Responding officers determined the device more than a smoke bomb, that it could possibly be an explosive, so Walnut Creek police’s bomb squad was called as a precaution, Hill said. No residents had to be evacuated as the bomb squad responded and took the device away from the home.
