Off-Duty CHP Officer Choked Unconscious By Teens In Emeryville
The CHP officer went to the aid of the woman, who was robbed of her cell phone, according to police.

EMERYVILLE, CA — Two teens have been arrested after a woman who tried to get her stolen cellphone back was attacked at an Emeryville mall on Black Friday and an off-duty California Highway Patrol officer who came to her aid was choked unconscious, police said.
The woman earlier had her cellphone stolen and had returned to the Bay Street mall at 5616 Bay St. in Emeryville at about 8 p.m. Friday and spotted a group of juveniles who she believed were associated with the suspect in the cellphone robbery, according to police.
The woman asked the juveniles to return her cellphone but they allegedly became aggressive with her and began to assault her.

The off-duty CHP officer saw the juveniles assault the woman and intervened, but they apparently became aggressive with him and began to assault him.
The juveniles struck the officer multiple times and choked him unconscious, but he was able to regain consciousness and pepper-sprayed a juvenile who was continuing to attack him, according to police.

Emeryville police officers responded to the scene and detained several juveniles and eventually two of the juveniles, 14 and 16 years old, were identified and arrested for the assault, police said. — Bay City News
