But wait, what is a Bowl-a-Thon?! Abortion Funds like us fill a vital health care gap by helping women get the health care they want and need. We believe that every woman should have the right to shape her own life and the right to care for herself and her family with dignity. But we can't do it alone and YOU can help low-income women pay for the abortion services that they need by joining our Bowl-A-Thon.  ACCESS and women in California need your help to fight the extreme right who want to curtail our reproductive health and rights and send us all back to the 19th century. Join us, at the Bowling Lanes as a team member, or as a donor in an evening filled with costumes, prizes and maybe even a little Lebowski worship. To get in on the action, just grab 4-6 of your favorite people, come up with a fabulous name, register your team here, and let the fundraising begin!  

Don't want to bowl? That's fine! You can still participate either by donating to one of the registered teams or by registering as a non-bowling team of cheerleaders and supporters! You don't even have to be in Oakland, or heck, even in California to participate. We can have virtual teams all across the globe!   

How much do I need to raise?

This year, ACCESS’s goal is to raise $20,000. We will have 10 teams, and each team of 4-6 people is responsible for raising $2,000. Split between a team of 6 that's only $335 a person, which means you just need 10 people to give you $35! This website makes it easy breezy to invite your friends, family, facebook friends, co-workers to participate in the event. This is a critical time for ACCESS and for women’s and reproductive justice around the country. During this difficult economic times, foundation and government funding is limited, we need your help more than ever. We know that together with YOUR help, we can raise $20,000 or more. In this spirit of women and men coming together, and in the words of Margaret Mead:

“Never doubt a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

ACCESS Women's Health Justice removes barriers to sexual and reproductive health care and builds the power of California women and girls to demand health, justice and dignity. We combine direct services, community education and policy advocacy to promote real reproductive options and access to quality health care for California women.    Whether you're a captain, a bowler, or a fan/supporter, we're thrilled to have you! The money you raise will have a direct impact on women's lives.
