In the 14th century the land of Brazil was colonized by the Portuguese, who brought over enslaved Africans of various tribes of West Africa to labor the lands once only inhabited by various indigenous tribes. Brazil's territory is vast, resulting in diverse dance and music from its regions. Come learn and dance to the many different genres of music from these different regions and learn the styles of dance that go with them. With the base of Brazil's national dance "Samba" you will learn to dance Samba Reggae, Samba de Roda, Axé, Pagode, Funk (funk-ee), and movements of the Orixás. No experience is necessary. Movements can be tailored to your comfort level of workout. Wear comfortable work-out clothes, bring water and a towel.
