New Years Day on Albany Hill

Albany Hill is one of our town's unique landmarks... but how often do we each take time to explore it, or enjoy the great views from the top? For the last 5 years or more neighbors on the 800 block of Evelyn have made a New Years Day walk to the top of Albany Hill.  It's now an annual tradition for our family.

We gather for coffee and bagels about 9, then leave about 10am.  We make our way to the top of the hill which takes about 20-30 minutes depending on how fast we go.  We rest on the benches by the Albany Cross and snap a group picture.

Then we take turns on the rope swing at the top, eat tangerines for good luck (pack out the peels), make New Years Day wishes (we throw wild bird seed into the air with each wish) or resolutions, take in the view and finally make our way down.  Last year our youngest was 4 and our oldest was 80!

We'd love to see other Albany neighbors and their blocks join us (byo tangerines and wish-making birdseed).  Have ideas on what we could add to make our tradition even more fun?  Please share!
