2011 FilmFest Deadline Extended to April 28
Organizers have already received dozens of films for the May 21 event.
The city's first film festival has extended its deadline to give filmmakers more time to turn in movies for .
The deadline, which had been set for April 15, has been pushed back to April 28, organizers said Thursday.
All California filmmakers are eligible to submit their work in .

So far, nearly 70 films have been submitted for the inaugural Albany FilmFest, said , an Albany High junior, city employee and FilmFest organizer.
Maoz said most of the submissions have come from around the Bay Area and include a number of filmmakers who live outside Albany.

The grand prize winner for the festival will win $500, and there are for participants.
Judges for the juried festival include respected El Cerrito filmmaker and videographer Shane King.
One main thrust of the FilmFest, said Naomi Lucks Sigal, one member of the , is to spread the word about KALB 33, Albany's own cable access station. The committee is spearheading the festival, along with KALB 33,
"We want to let people know that this is their station, and people can contribute creative programming to it," Sigal said. "This arose as a way to make people aware that there's a station in Albany, and as a way to get community content."
Organizers are looking for for the festival. Films will screen the day of the event, and continue showing (with filmmaker permission) for at least a month on the cable channel, including streaming on the Internet.
