Police Hold Home Intruder for Psychiatric Evaluation

According to police, the man turned up naked in a University Village home in Albany last month.

University of California at Berkeley police took a man for a psychiatric evaluation after he turned up naked in a University Village home in Albany last month, police said Tuesday. Officers received a report at 12:06 a.m. on Nov. 23 of a person knocking on a Village resident’s door, according to police.

Officers searched the area and did not find anyone, police said. Another resident called at 4:56 a.m. to say a man was naked in the bathroom, according to police. The naked man had entered the home through an unlocked door, police said.

University police suggest residents keep outside doors locked and put a dowel or stick in the track of a sliding door or window. Officers suggest checking to see regularly whether windows are locked, police said.
