Suspects on Bicycles and a Skateboard Try to Rob Victims Near Albany Playground

The victims include a woman with a baby in a stroller. A suspect reached for the toddler, but the mom got away with the child.

ALBANY, CA — University of California police responded Wednesday to a series of attempted robberies near the University Village playground in Albany, according to a UCPD report.

At about 4:45 p.m., a group of six male juveniles separately approached two male juvenile victims in an attempt to take money and a bicycle.

One of the suspects, brandishing what appeared to be a toy weapon, approached a woman and her toddler and demanded money and her cellphone. When the suspect reached for the toddler as if to facilitate the
victim's search for money to give him, the victim fled with her child.

The suspects were last seen leaving the area on bicycles and one skateboard north on San Pablo Avenue.

Police reported that they searched the area but did not apprehend any of the suspects. No victims were injured and no money or property was lost.
