Albany High Wrestlers Win League Title
The Albany High School wrestling team won first place at the Bay Shore Athletic League competition last week.

The Albany High School wrestling team became the official Bay Shore Athletic League champions, winning the title for the 12th consecutive year.
The team had its ups and downs this year, but managed to reach the top once again.

The tournament took place Feb. 18 and included , Athenian High School, California School for the Deaf, John Swett High School and St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School.
The winners of this tournament will have their pictures placed on the walls of the wrestling room, a goal of every Albany wrestler.

These wrestlers include Jessie Chua at 119 pounds; Simon Leemans at 130 pounds; Elijah Sudduth at 140 pounds; Daniel Larman at 145 pounds; Brian Bernard at 152 pounds; Rafael Menjivar at 160 pounds; Alex Malanche at 171 pounds; and Andy Choi at at 189 pounds.
These wrestlers, along with all placers at the tournament, will advance to the Boys North Coast Section Tournament.
In addition, April Yang and Jillian Jenkins will also have their pictures on the wall as Girls North Coast Section Champions.
As a team, the female wrestlers won the Girls North Coast Section Tournament and will move on to the California Interscholastic Federation State Tournament.
Wish the wrestlers luck as they will hopefully place or win the tournaments coming up next weekend.
