SAN CLEMENTE LOCAL TEEN'S TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY & ROAD TO RECOVERY

You can make Taylor's Journey with a traumatic brain injury a bit easier with your vote!

On December 15, 2014, 13-year-old San Clemente native, Taylor Pearcy was struck by a car and continues to suffer from a traumatic brain injury. Taylor’s needs are substantial, and her cause is a finalist in The Sheckler Foundation’s 4th annual “Be the Change” initiative to help children in need and injured action sports athletes.

Part of the Ryan Sheckler Foundation, “Be the Change” was created to help injured action sports athletes and kids in need. From the group of submissions made to “Be the Change,” four lucky finalists have been chosen and placed on the Sheckler Foundation’s website to raise greater awareness to their cause.

While most girls at this age worry about boys, make-up, and clothes; Taylor has to start over and learn how to talk, walk, eat and write among the many other abilities people take for granted in their everyday lives. The accident left Taylor with a shattered jaw, nose, clavicle, among other injuries; leaving her to fight for her life. Three extensive surgeries later, Taylor is now in a rehabilitation hospital where she will spend the year seeking physical, occupational and speech therapy.
