• Day of Hope Taking Place to Help Support Central Coast Cancer Patients (slopulse.com) — Day of Hope volunteers sold special newspapers in Arroyo Grande and nearby cities to raise money for local cancer patients, with proceeds supporting Mission Hope's centers in Santa Maria and inside Arroyo Grande's Matthew Will Memorial Medical Center. If you missed the street sales, you can still donate online through Sept. 18 to help fund vital patient services and programs.

• Popular SLO thrift store is closing — but a similar shop is taking its place (sanluisobispo.com) — An Arroyo Grande favorite, The Haven consignment store in the Village, is expanding by taking over the Fred and Betty's thrift shop space in downtown San Luis Obispo. Owners plan to keep donating a portion of profits to SLO Classical Academy, retain interested staff, and add vendor booths and community events while they transition the Higuera Street store over the next month.
