• Felon accused of robbing Banning business to stand trial (kesq.com) — A 38-year-old transient is headed to trial after allegedly robbing a Jack-in-the-Box on West Ramsey Street in Banning with a fake gun, following a Banning Police investigation. A Riverside County judge ordered him held for trial, with arraignment set Oct. 8 at the Banning Justice Center and bail at $1 million.
• Inland boys athlete of the week: Jacob Anzaldua, Banning (sanluisobispo.com) — Banning High School quarterback Jacob Anzaldua is drawing regional attention after throwing 523 yards and eight touchdowns in a blowout win over Fontana, ranking among the top performances in Inland history. The senior now sits near the top of national passing leaderboards, giving Banning fans plenty to cheer about this football season.
