• Felon accused of robbing Banning business to stand trial (kesq.com) — A 38-year-old transient is headed to trial after allegedly robbing a Jack-in-the-Box on West Ramsey Street in Banning with a fake gun, following a Banning Police investigation. A Riverside County judge ordered him held for trial, with arraignment set Oct. 8 at the Banning Justice Center and bail at $1 million.
   

• Inland boys athlete of the week: Jacob Anzaldua, Banning (sanluisobispo.com) — Banning High School quarterback Jacob Anzaldua is drawing regional attention after throwing 523 yards and eight touchdowns in a blowout win over Fontana, ranking among the top performances in Inland history.
