BANNING, CA — Banning police announced Thursday morning they are seeking witnesses to a shooting that left one person hospitalized with bullet wounds.

The shooting occurred shortly before noon Wednesday in the 1600 block of West Ramsey Street, police said.

When the first officer got on scene, a male was found "down, suffering from gunshot wounds," the Banning Police Department reported.

The victim underwent emergency surgery at a local hospital, according to the department. An update on his condition was not provided.

No arrests have been announced and Banning police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident, or who witnessed the shooting or captured it on video, to come forward by contacting the Banning Police Department Detective Bureau at 951-922-3170.
