"As a board of trustee member, I felt it was necessary to help bridge this gap between our more mature and experienced residents with our children in the Banning Unified School District."

Six people agreed to volunteer their time, from one day a week to multiple days a week, to help kids from K-12, Histed said. They also agreed to submit to background checks and other requirements to meet district policy, Histed said.
