Beaumont Accepting Names for City's Public Safety Memorial
If you'd like to see a loved one's name etched into the memorial, applications are due by Sept. 15.

Do you have a loved one who served as a police or fireman? You can honor them by placing their name on the Public Safety Memorial at the Beaumont Civic Center. The memorial honors deceased police and fire personnel who lived in or served the Beaumont or Cherry Valley area.General guidelines for police and fire personnel:
- Generally, any person who comes within the provisions of the 830 through 830.65 of the California Penal Code and who otherwise meets the requirements of Section 1031 of the Government Code, the selection and training standards of the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and all standards imposed by law on a peace officer is a peace officer and shall have their name placed in the Public Safety Memorial.
- Any firefighter, volunteer fire fighter or EMS person who was a member of a regularly organized fire department of a city, county, city and county, district, or federal agency shall have their name placed in the Public Safety Memorial.
Beginning in 2016, there will be a $50 engraving fee per name. Applications will not be accepted without payment and proof of death. The Beaumont Public Safety Memorial Committee will review all applications and determine whether the applicant meets the criteria for admission onto the Memorial wall. If an application is denied, the engraving fee will be refunded in full.
All applications must be submitted with payment by Thursday, September 15, 2016 to be included in the 2016 ceremony. The City of Beaumont will unveil the names and pay tribute during a public ceremony on Saturday, October 8, 2016. For a complete list of guidelines, please visit www.BeaumontCares.com.
