Beaumont Boys Basketball Defeats Tahquitz, League Title in Play Thursday
The Cougars won Tuesday night 76-40 in Beaumont, and go up against West Valley High on Thursday for at least a share of the Mountain Pass League title.
The Beaumont High School boys basketball team defeated Tahquitz High of Hemet, 76-40, on Tuesday and improved to 8-1 in league play and 19-2 for the season, Cougars Athletic Director Martin DuSold said.
The victory at home means the Cougars play West Valley High of Hemet on Thursday night in Beaumont with a chance to win at least a share of the Mountain Pass League title, DuSold said.
The decisive game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Beaumont High.

If the Cougars win the Mountain Pass League, it would be their first league championship since 1999, DuSold said.
Before the victory over Tahquitz, Beaumont High's leaders included sophomore guard Sammy Roberts, who was averaging 13.1 points per game, junior Andrew Walker with 12.1 points per game, and senior Dejon Brown with 7.6 points per game, and 8.2 rebounds per game.

The team's defense has held opponents to less than 46 points per game, DuSold said.
