Beaumont Classified School Employees, District Reach Tentative Deal to Bring Jobs Back
34 positions were pink-slipped in March. Now the employees' union is working to bring as many back as possible through concessions and negotiations.

Dozens of classified jobs within the Beaumont Unified School District may be saved if a tentative deal is agreed upon by union employees, and then the district.
California School Employees Association (CSEA) Labor Relations Representative Beth Caskie tells Banning-Beaumont Patch that the union signed a tentative agreement last week brining back "most" .
"The agreement brings back most of the jobs, including the bus service for students, with the staff taking seven furlough days for two years," Caskie said. "CSEA 351 membership will vote on it this coming week."

The total of 14 furlough days over a two-year period mirror another and the district, reached last week.
What's more-- if voters approve new taxes in November, those furlough days won't happen.

"If the tax initiative passes and the school funding stays intact, the furlough days would be rescinded," Caskie said.
Banning classified employees were headed back to negotiations within that district this week as well, according to Caskie.
