Beaumont Cheer Squads Place First, Earn Bids to Two National Competitions
Cougars varsity and junior varsity squads placed first at the Sharp competition Saturday in Rialto, following up their first-place finish six days earlier at the United Spirit Association competition in Brea, said Angie Hubbs of Beaumont's cheer boosters.
Beaumont High varsity and junior varsity cheer squads placed first at two regional competitions in a seven-day span, earning invitations to two national competitions in Anaheim and Las Vegas, a cheer supporter said Monday.
The 20-member varsity and 14-member junior varsity placed first at the Sharp competition Saturday Jan. 28 in Rialto, following up their first-place finish on Jan. 22 at the United Spirit Association competition in Brea, said Beaumont High booster club secretary Angie Hubbs.
The varsity coach is Shannon Simmons and the junior varsity coach is Kristy Lane, Hubbs said.

The United Spirit Association Nationals are scheduled March 30, March 31 and April 1 in Anaheim, and the Sharp Nationals are April 21-22 in Las Vegas, Hubbs said.
This weekend, Beaumont's cheer squads are competing in an event scheduled 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Feb. 4 at Tahquitz High, 4425 Titan Trail in Hemet.

"We are currently looking for anyone who wants to sponsor the teams to help send them to both of the National Competitions," Hubbs said. "Sponsors will receive a poster of the team with sponsor's name on it to hang in business for $150, the company name on our Nationals shirts and a poster of team with sponsor's name on it to hang in business for $300, and for $500 the company logo on our Nationals shirts and a sponsor plaque."
