Beaumont Names New Mayor: 'It's Time to Focus on Healing the Community'

Mayor Lloyd White says the city is working to rebuild the community and earn back the trust of the citizens.

BEAUMONT, CA – The Beaumont City Council has appointed a new mayor and mayor pro tem for the next year. Lloyd White will serve as mayor with Nancy Carroll as pro tem.

White, who was first elected in 2014, took the helm from Councilman Mike Lara on Dec. 12. Carroll and Julio Martinez were also sworn into office at the same special council meeting.

Together, all five current council members represent a sweeping change in leadership at City Hall, with the most senior members elected just two years ago as scandals and litigation plagued Beaumont.

"Over the last two years we have faced many major challenges that most small town City Councils will never have to meet," White told Patch in a statement.

"It's time to focus on healing the community and reminding the people of Beaumont what was so special that they moved their families here. With the new additions to our council and our new City Manager, I believe we have the leadership to rebuild our community and earn back the trust of our citizens."
