Beaumont Police Talk Teen Out Of Jumping Off Overpass

Police say the boy threatened to jump off the ledge of the bridge that runs along Beaumont Avenue.

BEAUMONT, CA — Beaumont police rescued a teen boy on Tuesday as he attempted to jump off of a bridge near the freeway, officials said. The boy was on the other side of the fencing on a bridge that connects Beaumont Avenue from 1st to 4th streets, which runs over the train tracks, before he decided to come back to safety.

It happened around 10 a.m., according to Beaumont police, who said the boy had run away from a local group home.

"[T]he Beaumont Police Department received a call from a staff member of a group home located in an unincorporated area of Beaumont in Riverside County," police said in a news release. "The staff member reported that a juvenile was running away from the group home and into the Beaumont City limits."
