Beaumont Students Plan Walkout For 2nd Amendment Rights
A "Stand for the Second" walkout is happening on Wednesday at various locations across the nation.

BEAUMONT, CA — A nationwide student walkout is happening all across the country on Wednesday — but this time it isn’t to protest gun violence and push for new laws, it’s in support of second amendment rights. Students planned to walk out of school at 10 a.m. as part of the event, titled "Stand for the Second.” They planned to return to class 16 minutes later.
In Riverside County, two walkouts were planned — in Beaumont and in Hemet. In nearby Redlands, two walkouts were planned.

Organizers said there’s been much attention and focus recently on the need to create new laws to restrict gun in order to make schools safer, but not a lot of attention has been given to those who want to protect their right to own a gun.
“That’s what Stand for the Second is all about,” the event’s Tea Party Patriots website said.

The event was launched by Will Riley, a high school senior from Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Organizers said those who want to participate are encouraged to do so, even if they feel intimidated.
“We encourage you to take part on May 2nd to not only stand up for the Second Amendment, but to stand up for all of our rights. If you don’t stand, then who will?”
