Dear Beaumont USD Parents and Guardians,
As you are aware, the number of positive cases for COVID-19 in Riverside County is at an alarmingly high rate. The county remains in the deep purple widespread tier and, as of December 5, 2020, we were put on a three-week Regional Stay at Home order that has the potential to be extended if ICU beds remain below 15%.
As communicated to you on October 30, 2020, the Beaumont USD Board of Trustees approved a plan to provide an afternoon, in-person hybrid schedule as an option for our students. The District had the goal for students to begin the in-person hybrid schedule on January 19, 2021. However, as of Tuesday, December 22, 2020, Riverside County remains in the purple widespread tier, thus pushing back the start date for the in-person hybrid schedule. Given the fluidity and current state of the COVID 19 pandemic, we are not able to set a firm start date for the in-person hybrid schedule.
Please be assured, we are monitoring the number of cases every day and will continue to receive, review, and discuss information from local, state, and federal health officials and educational agencies. We want to reiterate, the deep driving force for the reopening of our schools is the health and safety of our students and staff.
As a reminder, students will continue the virtual learning schedule when we return from the Winter Break on January 11, 2021. We understand the challenges this continues to present for our students, our families, and our staff. Nothing about this pandemic has been normal, and it has been deeply frustrating. Seeing our schools empty for the past 9 months has not been normal. We miss hearing the sounds and laughter of our students on campus!
Thank you for your continued support and shared commitment to providing our students with high-quality educational opportunities. Most importantly, thank you for believing in and trusting us to make the best possible decisions for our students, families, and staff, given the circumstances this past year.
Yours in student success,
Maureen Latham
Interim Superintendent
