Coroner ID's San Jacinto Man Killed In I-215 Crash

The crash, which shut down lanes for much of Thursday afternoon, was reported about 12:34 p.m. just north of Box Springs Road.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A man killed Thursday in a crash involving two big rigs on Interstate 215 was identified Friday by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau.

Ricardo Rodriguez, 49, of San Jacinto died in the crash on northbound I-215 at Central Avenue in Riverside, according to the bureau.

The crash, which shut down lanes for much of Thursday afternoon, was reported about 12:34 p.m. just north of Box Springs Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The two tractor-trailers and a Ford Expedition collided in the HOV and fast lane, according to the CHP. Rodriguez was in the Expedition.

The CHP shut down three of four northbound lanes and issued a SigAlert because of the ensuing traffic jam. All lanes reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
