Electric Vehicle Smashes Through Riverside Home, Displacing 6 Residents: Photos

The crash cause remains under investigation by the Riverside Police Department.

RIVERSIDE, CA — The Riverside Police Department continued Monday to investigate a weekend crash in which an electric vehicle smashed through a home.

The crash was reported just after 9 p.m. Saturday on Trautwein Road near Grove Community Drive.

When Riverside Fire Department crews arrived at the scene, they found the white sedan partially inside the home. The car had smashed through a block wall and then through an exterior wall of the home.

Fortunately, six residents inside the home were uninjured. The vehicle's driver, however, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital, according to the fire department. The driver was the car's only occupant.

The home suffered significant damage, and it's unclear when the residents might return.

The car was extricated from the wreckage and towed from the scene.
