Banning needs an In-In-Out Burger store at Sunset and Ramsey. It is a perfect location near the 10 Freeway and would bring in a lot of sales tax for the city and quality burgers to Banning. If you visit the In-In-Out stores in Thousand Palms, Cabazon or Moreno Valley they are always busy. I grew up with In-In-Out Burgers in Pasadena and they are a quality product year in and year out. The Banning City Council passed on this opportunity before; let’s not let that happen again.
Banning city council District 4 only has one park. It is a small community park, Richard Sanchez Park. District 4 starts at Highland Springs Ave. and ends at San Gorgonio Ave. on the northwest side of Banning. That is way too much real estate, four miles, for only one community Park.

In 2010 when I was on the Banning Recreation and Park Committee we had a workshop with the RJM Design Group, a park specialist. They recommended that a park should be within a mile of all city residents and should be easy to walk to. Sanchez Park is two miles from my home. I mentioned that the west side needs a sports park since our only sports park is Lions Park on the east side of town. Two former mayors were also on the park committee and neither one embraced my idea. Well, Banning still needs a new sports park and there is no better place to build one than the west side of town.
Pardee is no longer building a golf course in the Butterfield/Atwell project on the northwest side of Banning. That leaves plenty of acreage available to build a sports park. The park would be a sales point for prospective homeowners and businesses looking to relocate. It would also provide needed recreation for youth, families and adults. Let’s build a new sports park in Banning, now! The city council needs to step up and make this new park a priority and a reality for Banning youth and adults.
A new sports park would be a sales point for potential Banning residents and businesses alike. Build it and they will come.
