Gunfire Near Banning Schools Triggers Lockdowns
Authorities are looking for young men suspected of firing gunshots at Repplier Park, triggering school lockdowns.
BANNING, CA — A report of gunfire in Banning's Repplier Park prompted a brief lockdown at nearby schools Thursday before police determined there was no ongoing threat, authorities said.
Banning police were flagged down about 11:38 a.m. after shots were reported at Repplier Park near the Playhouse Bowl at 399 W. George St., police said. Officers who responded found spent shell casings at the scene.
Witnesses in the park reported hearing gunshots and seeing several people run from the area. Those involved were described as young adult males, police said. No injuries were reported.

As a precaution, schools in the area were placed on a brief lockdown. Normal operations resumed after officers determined the scene was safe, according to the Capt. Brandon Smith of the Banning Police Department.
