Equality for Women is Progress for All ~ International Women's Day

"Equality for Women is Progress for All" ~ International Women's Day

March 8th came, went, how many remembered that it was - International Women's Day - I did, but then time passed, and it slipped my mind.  The United Nations gave this years day a theme: " Equality for Women is Progress for All ".   It has become a day to: respect - appreciate, and love women, far from the political movement it was in the early 1900's.

As a new week begins I want to draw a bit of attention back to last Friday. It is important in that International Women's Day unites all of us. Though it began as a political, socialist movement, and in places remains a political day it is ~ International.  It encompasses social issues, and it brings me thoughts of caring, giving women: i.e. Audrey Hepburn - UNICEF; Mother Theresa; as well as strong women - i.e. the late Helen Gurley Brown - Feminist/Publisher; Gloria Steineim - Feminist; Betty Ford - Betty Ford Center;  Nancy Reagan - Just Say No.   Women have been, continue to be, Nationally and Internationally great leaders and recognition is always welcomed.

This morning an eMail, from a well known Aussie, Author, Motivational Speaker - Margie Warrell - she interviewed former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gilliard.  A quote from Prime Minister Gilliard:  " Nothing Big is Ever Achieved by Cowering " - wow, taking action. This applies to all of us. That is why I say that International Women's Day is to be respected by all of us, it effects us all, the ripple effect.
