LLLeindecker & Associates ~ President's Day, and President Reagan of My Generation
. . .here he is, my, and yes I say my president. I claim President Reagan probably because of the Western White House located in Santa Barbara County [my hometown]. I remember every time I would fly home from New York and pass through our small airport. I would pass through the gift shop and there you would find those souvenir pens, you know those pens whose barrels/cylinders float an item. Our pens floated Air Force One, I still have a pen or two around. Perhaps I claim the President because I graduated in communication, and also studied films at UC Santa Barbara. Perhaps because of the famous West Berlin speech he gave ~ and that famous line to Mikhail Gorbachev: "Tear Down This Wall" referring to the Communist wall which had been built in August 1961. I think it is a bit of all of the above. I respected Reagan as a communicator, and as I hold a degree in this field I continue to respect his talent.
I believe President Reagan was the President of my generation, my Republican generation. This quote clearly conveys to me his mantra, and has become a part of mine. On this day that we remember all Presidents, I say ~ Happy Birthday ~ to them all, and let's honor them in perhaps a ~ thank you ~ not necessarily a shopping spree. However, being the business woman, that I am, I would like to end on this note. This is America and we do promote commerce ~ we just need to remember what today truly is about, and not lose sight. Merely my opinion, laura.
