Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder: Banning

BANNING, CA — A man who allegedly opened fire in Banning Wednesday morning was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, the Banning Police Department reported.

Willie Budda Scott, 26, was being held at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning with no bail, jail records showed Wednesday night.

According to Banning police, shortly before 10 a.m. the department received calls about shots fired in the area of Almond Way and Nicolet Street. When officers arrived, "a crime scene and a victim were located," the department reported.

It's not immediately clear if the victim was struck by gunfire.

An investigation involving Banning police and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department led to identifying Scott as the suspect and he was later arrested, Banning PD reported.
