PASS AREA, CA — A brush fire burned about 50 acres near Cherry Valley and Oak Glen Wednesday afternoon, forcing the temporary closure of a main area roadway and threatening three structures. The fire was reported just before 1 p.m. and may have been sparked by a car crash off Oak Glen Road, according to CHP reports.
Reports indicate the crash was several hundred feet down a canyon and that at least one vehicle was completely burned up.
Air and ground crews worked to contain the blaze, dubbed the Oak Fire, which prompted the temporary closure of Oak Glen Road between Oak Crest Road and Wild Wood Canyon. During the peak of firefighting efforts, the resources assigned to the blaze included: 22 engines, 6 hand crews, 4 water tenders, 5 bulldozers, 4 air tankers, 3 helicopters and 1 air attack, according to Cal Fire.
