The Riverside County Office of Education saluted the 2019 Riverside County Top Scholars at a May 15th award dinner in Moreno Valley.

Osuna will be graduating from New Horizons High School this month and will be attending Mt. San Jacinto College in the fall. The senior plans on transferring to U.C.L.A. to earn her bachelor’s degree and then becoming either a medical sonographer working to safeguard the health of babies or a video editor on creative projects.

“I wish to thank the Riverside County Office of Education for recognizing the hard work and perseverance of so many students who are attending alternative and continuation high schools,“ Osuna said. “I believe our winning attitude about life will mean success as we pursue our dreams.”

The County Office of Education honored students attending 26 alternative and continuation high schools in Riverside County, including Megan Kirkland, a student at Glen View High School in the Beaumont Unified School District.

Future success

Osuna has some advice for her “younger self” and those students just entering high school.

In a slideshow titled Senior Seminar, Osuna wrote, “If I could repeat something in my life, it would be my freshman year of high school. I would not have procrastinated in all my classes.”

And looking ahead to the fall and a new chapter in her life, Osuna quotes a famous rapper in a section titled My Future.

“I don’t look at being successful as a dream. I look at it as a destination. That way, it’s not a matter of if I get there, but when.” — Timothy DeLaGhetto
