SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA — Several engines and San Bernardino County Fire crews responded to a commercial structure fire on the 900 block of East Baseline Street in the city of San Bernardino on Thursday. One person was taken to a nearby hospital during the incident. Their condition was not immediately known. (Watch the full video, below).

Just after 10 a.m., firefighters arrived at a commercial building that was boarded up and used for storage and was burning from within.

"The building was in the heart of the city, so numerous units were on scene within minutes of dispatch," Shawn Millerick, SBCFD's Public Information Officer, said.

Fire crews initiated a coordinated suppression operation, including fire attack, search, and roof ventilation.

"As a result of these efforts, the primary search team found an unconscious adult male victim in the pack rat conditions," he said. The man was quickly moved to the exterior, where advanced life support measures (CPR) were performed.

The victim was then rushed to a nearby hospital, code three, for further treatment. His current condition and identity remain unknown.

"The fire was contained to the building of origin, though some minor damage was reported to a nearby limousine, due to heat exposure," Millerick said. "The extricated victim was the only occupant, and no firefighter injuries were reported."

A total of seven engine companies, two truck companies, one paramedic squad, two battalion chiefs, two safety officers, two fire investigators, one public information officer, and one ambulance responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal, and no other information was immediately available, though a full video of the incident was shared over social media.
