UPDATE: 9,000-Gallon Fuel Spill On I-10 In Banning, SigAlert
Eastbound lanes are still affected.
BANNING, CA — "Avoid Interstate 10 in Banning." That was the message from officials Tuesday after a tanker overturned and spilled 9,000 gallons of fuel.
The spill that occurred around 3:30 a.m. at Hargrave Street closed all I-10 lanes between Ramsey and Eighth Street. While all westbound freeway lanes reopened, the eastbound side was partially reopened then fully shut down again shortly before 1 p.m. to continue the cleanup process.
All freeway lanes finally reopened at 2:39 p.m.

There was no word on injuries or what may have caused the solo-vehicle incident. According to reports into the California Highway Patrol, the big rig went off the road near the Hargrave onramp and landed on its side. As of 6:30 p.m., the Hargrave onramp to eastbound I-10 was still closed.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
