'Find My iPhone' Leads Family To Woman Who Crashed Off IE Mountain

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA — A woman who crashed off the roadway following a Christmas night gathering was found with the help of Apple's "Find My iPhone" feature, the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District said this week.

The crash occurred north of 40th Street on Highway 18, where firefighters found a vehicle around 200 feet below the roadway Monday morning. Fire officials added that they believe the woman had been in the vehicle all night.

The woman was found with serious injuries and was given life support care before being lifted by rope to safety and taken by ambulance to a local trauma center, San Bernardino County Fire officials said.

Officials say the woman's family was worried after not hearing from her by Monday morning— so they took to technology and used Apple’s “Find my iPhone” feature to track her to the hillside in San Bernardino. That's when they spotted the wreck.

"Upon investigating the phone’s location they found the vehicle over the side & called 911," officials said in a Facebook post.

The woman was taken to a trauma center and an update on her condition was not immediately available.
