Best Route to the Bay Area (for Maker Faire or Any Faire)

Do you know the best way to the Bay Area? I do!

Today I headed up to the Bay Area for the anniversary of the flagship Maker Faire, that started the Maker Movement and brought the Do It Yourselfers (DIYers) together for a tremendously exciting and fun event.
I'm here, enjoying the faire.  There is much to talk about and show, but first I want to tell you of my discovery that leads me to believe that I know the Best Route to the Bay Area Maker Faire from the Belmont Heights/Belmont Shore/Alamitos Heights area of Long Beach.
Take the LB Transit's 111 Bus northbound somewhere along Ximeno.
This is the bus that goes along Ximeno... The one I always wondered about... "Who takes that bus?  I thought."  Well, now I can say "Me!".  I caught it at 7th and Ximeno.  The beautiful thing about it is that it takes you right into the Long Beach Airport.  You have to walk from the road that runs between the two parking buildings, but it's not far at all.  The best part?  The fare is just $1.25.
Check in for your JetBlue flight.
JetBlue is fast becoming my favorite airline.  It's great, lines are relatively short, it uses an awesome, small airport.  Prices are usually just as good as the next airline, and the first bag is free!
Wait for your flight at the awesome new  Long Beach Airport terminals.
It's like taking a stroll down Pine Street mixed with 2nd Street mixed with Retro Row.  The businesses in the terminals are all Long Beach local.  Polly's Coffee, Sweet Jill's, George's Greek Café, McKenna's (2 locations), Taco Beach and 4th Street Vine.  Across from the casual food area is a great dining/waiting table space.  You can eat your snack, whether purchased at one of the businesses or brought along with you, while looking out at the planes on the tarmac.
Board your plane to San Francisco.
It's just a short walk out to the plane and up a ramp or stairs.
Take the BART to the Cal Train.
The BART station is right at the airport.  So convenient and very metropolitan.  The ticket to Millbrae to pick up the Cal Train is $4.05.
Take the Cal Train to Hillsdale.
Don't let anyone, even the train driver, tell you otherwise.  Several folks got out at the wrong stop.  For once, I'd checked the directions and knew that Hillsdale was the stop.  $3.00.
Walk back (north) to the end of the station and cross over the track.
Continue north - following the crowd - to the San Mateo Convention Center and - Maker Faire.
This weekend there are expected to be 100K people in attendance.  There are a LOT of people here today.  More about the faire later.

If you're headed to the Bay Area, but not necessarily the Maker Faire, you can just do the LB Transit 111/Long Beach Airport/JetBlue part.  AND you never have to be stuck wondering how to get a ride from the airport again!  Just take the 111 back home!
