I am very fond of apps on my Iphone 5. I found a very practical one this week out of curiosity about what I eat, because I'm trying to gain weight. The app is the Livestrong Calorie Counter that you can get for free. [Livestrong is the cancer charity founded by cyclist Lance Armstrong, who resigned from the non-profit before confessing to doping.]
Although I think that Lance Armstrong is a cheater and a bad guy, I like this app a lot. You simply input the food that you have eaten and it shows the calories, fat, protein and carbs you have eaten. You can even set goals to gain, lose or maintain your weight.
Why do I mention this app out of all of the ones on my phone? Well let me tell you two things Americans are: fat and smartphone abusers. With our nation in the middle of an obesity epidemic, I think this is a must-have app for anyone who is obese or overweight. This is a struggle that affects us all in some way, whether through taxes we must pay for the obese, a family member or a personal demon that lives within someone who is affected.

The young, whom embrace technology, are the same who eat more than they use. They are the same who turn to strange diets and impractical solutions to solve a problem that they can fix with a balanced diet and an hour of exercise.
I am merely a man born with skinny genes who will most likely be thin his whole life. But I feel the need to advertise this as a way for others to try to lose weight. Try it on the App Store or Itunes or Android Market. I am not endorsed by Lance Armstrong or the Livestrong Foundation, I am just trying to make a difference.
