I was scrolling my newsfeed on Facebook when I saw a status from the Slayer Facebook Page that I will never forget. It read: "Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11am this morning near his Southern California home.”
My first memories of Slayer and Jeff Hanneman's guitar playing were while playing Guitar Hero. Their song "Raining Blood" was one of the hardest in the game and I spent hours trying to beat it.
I attended the Big Four Of Thrash Metal concert in Indio, California which included Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. However, Jeff couldn't preform that day due to a skin-eating disease he had contracted when he was bit by a spider. I was disappointed then and I am disappointed now that I was unable to see him play live.

Now that I know that the band will never be the same as he wrote some of the bands best songs. Slayer is one of the only bands I have always had on my Ipod and I mourn the loss of Jeff as much as any other Slayer fan out there. I encourage you to watch these videos of Jeff's best moments while playing guitar:
